Why do Xboxes Overheat? What can be done to prevent this from happening? Many of us have experienced the "red ring of death" once or even twice, but in some cases overheating can be prevented. If you've ever seen a friend who keeps his game console in a cabinet, under a pile of junk, or poorly ventilated, you probaly understand the inevitable result.
Update: This Blog speaks of the "towel trick" and the "clamp trick" and says they are temporary fixes that involve overheating the Xbox 360 and sells a guide to fixing it. The guide also says it can fix freeze errors and other problems. So far we have not reviewed it, given that we don't have a broken Xbox to try it out on.
